Movie Review: Thor (2011)

yeaaaah the Mighty Thor! Superheroes rule hollywood this year I just realized. first the X-men, Captain America, and Thor from Marvel. and then there was The Green Lantern from DC Comics. Do filmmakers run out of ideas? I mean, they just go and make a movie adapted from a novel or comic book these days. Then I look at the review, most of them turn out pretty good and to be honest it bothers me. the only film which deserves a high rating is X-Men First Class. I have to admit they made it almost without a scratch. and most of the movie critics agree with me. what bothers me is, Captain America did earn a pretty good rating. I mean come on. I've never read the comics before and I can see that the movie itself is very disappointing. I don't know whether they make it intentionally (aimed at children), all I know is that movie could be made better than it turned out to be.

For me personally Thor is way better than Captain America. But still it's not as good as Iron Man. but one thing for sure, I'm looking forward to see them together in The Avengers cause the trailer looks promising. anyways, Hawk Eye appeared as a cameo in the movie and I reaaallyy can't wait to see him in The Avengers.

Overall, Thor is great. but if you compare this movie with , say, Iron Man or X-men, well I have to say they are still way beyond. But Thor is not that disappointing. I like the scene when they barged in to Jotunheim and start to pick up a fight with Jotunheim race. Wow Thor and his comrades are simply. awesome. no kidding. especially Thor!!! that's why I want to see more fighting scenes from him! he fought without fear and he sure got style =p This movie is about "the Mighty Thor" right? why wouldn't they add a couple more actions I'm sure the audience won't mind. That's the thing I hate about this movie. They should add some more actions into the movie, that way, the audience can really see how mighty Thor is. right?

When the credit rolled, I was entirely shocked by the director's name written there. OMG is it really  him? Kenneth Branagh? I don't know I just can't accept the fact that he is a director. the face that I want to punch so badly in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret is actually the director of Thor??? hahaha that's just really shocking. for those who don't know, he's prof Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret. now you see why I wanna punch his face right? anyway, it's not like I hate him or anything. I was just shocked that's all.

As for the visual effects.. well, I can't say that it's bad. with technologies these days, everything seems to get easier and they managed to create the realm.

the chemistry between Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman really worked. they look cute together although they only met in a short period of time. Chris Hemsworth is perfect as Thor. He got the brave, reckless, innocent, arrogant, wise and mighty look on his appearance.

In conclusion, Thor is definitely better than Captain America and The Green Lantern but the movie doesn't look like it's 'mighty' enough compare to X-Men and Iron Man.

Odin: Thor Odinson... you have betrayed the express command of your king. Through your arrogance and stupidity, you've opened these peaceful realms and innocent lives to the horror and desolation of war! You are unworthy of these realms, you're unworthy of your title, you are unworthy... of the love of those you have betrayed! I now take from you your power! In the name of my father and his father before me, I, Odin Allfather, cast you out!
