Movie Review: Jane Eyre (2011)

This is a little review of Jane Eyre, the film I just watched for the last couple of days.
So, this is an adaptation from the famous literature fiction novel written by Charlotte Bronte.
This film is perfectly cast with Mia Wasikowska as Jane Eyre and Michael Fassbender as Mr. Rochester. This movie is directed by Cary Fukunaga.

Trailer:

The first scene captures Jane Eyre all on her own, wandering through the hills, depressed and looked like she's in need of shelter because she runs away from something. The plot itself is flashback. So, the watchers don't quite know what's actually going on in the first scene. And then the next scene tells us about Jane's life as a child. She's abused by her cousins in a bad way. All she's doing is always wrong in her aunt's eyes. At the age of 10 she's finally sent to a school owned by Mr. Brockwurst. He's been told by Jane's aunt that Jane is a troubled young girl and that she's deceitful. Her life in school is not so pleasant either. They love to punish their students physically when they did something wrong. Then at the age of 18, Jane got a job as a governess in Thornfield Hall, a place where she's going to meet the love of her life.

Here's the thing. I've always adored Michael Fassbender ever since I watched X-Men First Class. He's just. Magnificent and gorgeous (not to mention his sexy british accent =p) When he played this character, he looked so charismatic and devastatingly handsome. He depicted Mr. Rochester perfectly. Enough said (I need to compose myself before I fill this entire blog just to talk about how gorgeous he is =p)
Mia Wasikowska isn't so bad either. She managed to capture the plain and intelligent Jane Eyre with just the right spices.
The other thing I love from this movie is the setting. Fukunaga succeeded in capturing the amazingly beautiful England's landscape and castle, and we can all feel the gloomy and dark feelings in the story as well.
In conclusion, This movie is one great romantic movie with just the right spices =)

"Do you think because I'm poor, obscure, plain and little, I am soulless and heartless? I have as much soul as you, and full as much heart. And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you..." -Jane Eyre-
